WORLD YOGA DAY – TOGETHER FROM HOME

Life has changed drastically in the past few years! Well, to be more precise, the ways of life have changed. We are still doing the things we used to but now in a new and modified manner. The pandemic is not yet over, true. Some families have succumbed to its horrors. While those who survive continue to experience “survivor’s guilt.”

The stress of covid is real. Yes! We all deserve a vacation. But unfortunately, there’s nowhere we can go. So while we stay at home with our families, let’s use this World yoga day to spread the light of positivity in these dark times and bring hope back into our minds and lives.

Let’s unite as one, as a humane society and brave the hopelessness of this pandemic with our learnings from the past. Let us give the gift of hope for generations to come. This pandemic has been a trying time and has us all looking for an escape. We must treat this Coronavirus seriously as it completely drains the body’s immunity. Hence, boosting one’s immune system is crucial. To avoid getting affected, we must maintain social distancing, frequently wash our hands, wear a mask, and most importantly, stay at home. With so many restrictions around us, “work from home” has become the new normal. But sitting in front of the screen for long periods can not only affect your eyesight and your posture and may cause chronic backache, neck pain and other bone-related problems.

The pandemic has caused depression and anxiety all over. After stating all these problems, the question remains, “what is the solution?”. Don’t you worry there is one, it is a simple four-letter word- YOGA. When one starts practicing yoga they aren’t merely just exercising but doing so much more. Yoga is food for the mind and body. Each asana holds meaning that targets a particular part of the body. It strengthens the immune system and improves flexibility. Pranayam (breathing) exercises help improve the blood flow and increase oxygen levels in your body which is the biggest symptom of covid. Apart from physical benefits, yoga has proven to have holistic benefits. True inner peace can be found when one reflects on his inner self. Mental peace is so important, especially during these difficult times. Yoga helps improve the physical, mental, and spiritual health of a person. A person who is strong in mind and body can outweigh the effects of covid.

Every year on 21st June the world celebrates “International Yoga Day”. This initiative was taken by the United Nations in 2014, to bring people of all age groups together to practice Yoga. Due to the unfortunate circumstances, this year the world will celebrate it apart, at home. “International Yoga Day” has been a significant day in the lives of many who have experienced the wonders of yoga and cured their physical and mental illnesses, addictions, or diseases. Yoga indeed is the gateway to ultimate peace and good health. So let’s come together and pledge to use this magical practice to find inner peace and build immunity during these tough times. Happy International Yoga Day to one and all!
